Fit a more efficient induction kit to your Cooper S Words: Simon Cooke |

Following on from their success in the British Touring Car Championship, Graham Goode Racing have now turned their attention to road-going cars, and the R56 Cooper S in particular. They have developed a more effective cold air induction system which is a direct replacement for the restrictive standard system. It consists of a spun aluminium outer casing, large cone K&N filter element, and a spun aluminium bell-mouth assembly, all finished in a vibrant red hammer finish - so it looks good too! Cold air is fed from the original position in the bonnet slam panel, and feeds directly into the turbo inlet through custom made black silicone hoses. It’s dead easy to fit and the conversion is totally reversible should you want to remove it when you sell the car. COST £402.49 (including VAT) WHERE FROM? HOW LONG TO DO? HOW HARD TO FIT? 1) Unscrew the Jubilee clip on the induction pipe. 2) The cold air pipe just pulls out. 3) Remove the T25 Torx screw on the mounting plate underneath the breather pipe on the left of the air box. 4) The whole air box can now be pulled up and out. It’s secured by 3 rubber plugs which should just pop out. 5) Replace the three rubber bushes which will usually have attached themselves to the bottom of the air box. 6) Remember the T25 screw? It, together with its washer, need to be transfered across to the new GGR cold air induction kit. 7) Spray some WD40 on the rubber bushes to make fitting easier and fit the new induction kit in reverse order. There will now be an extra Jubilee clip on the intake pipe (before it just clipped into place)
