30/07/10 - Alpine's latest sat nav Alpine announces a unique product: the INE-S900R “ONE LOOK” NAVI, a 2DIN navigation/multimedia unit. The INE-S900R has an interface that allows drivers to display two applications of their choice on the screen, so they can see exactly what they want, depending on the driving situation. This easy to use interface offers the ability to combine Alpine’s advanced navigation features with Bluetooth phone use, rear camera views, and much more. The INE-S900R provides a choice of views: full screen or main and side screens. The dual-screen mode gives the user two clear views with just “one look” and is fully customisable. The user first decides what should be shown on the main screen, for example the basic navigation map, and then chooses from among many possibilities for the side screen, such as a second navigation view, information on each iPod song, incoming phone calls, clock, etc. Start-up is much quicker than other systems and route calculation is ultra fast: for example, for a 1600 km route, calculation is done in under six seconds, up to 10 times faster than many competitors. 08/02/10 - Pod-u-like The Alta Gauge pod makes good use of the rev counter casing by attaching just behind it. This gives great visibility for up to 3 gauges next to the rev counter. Due to the design of the gauge pod the tilt function on the steering wheel is not compromised and can still be used without binding or damaging the dashboard. The pod uses the existing mounting points on the back of the tachometer which means there is no need for modifying or damaging your interior. Gauge pods are priced individually and suit a 60 mm gauge (such as the Defi) but come with an adaptor to suit smaller 52 mm units. Yours for £30.

06/01/10 - Power ranger A good solution to keeping gadgets such as laptops and phones powered while on the move is an inverter. An inverter provides 240v AC main power from a 12v DC supply. Simply plug an inverter into your cigarette lighter socket and you have 240V AC mains electricity supply for charging all your gadgets in-car. 11/12/09 - Get into rubber $64.95 gets some rubber protection for your Mini. This Heavy Duty Soft Rubber set of front mats is a perfect way to protect your carpet during the 'off' season. They are made by Mini and fit perfect and have a nice Mini logo in the lower corner of both front mats. Cleans easily with soap and water, and can hold a boat load of water/snow or beverage (should you accidentally spill). It's nice to have a set of these in the winter/rainy season and switch back to the carpet floor mat sets in the summer.....it's kinda like wearing boots in the winter and sandals in the summer. Select the set suitable for your Mini and you can also add a set of rear mats to match.

The new CZ309E radio/CD-R/RW/USB/SD/Bluetooth unit offers greater integration with mobile phone or PDA functions, including hands-free calling, mobile phone book and sim phone book access, and call log recall. 01/11/09 - Push the button If you have an early Mini, then it wont be fitted with one-touch auto up windows, which can be a bit of a pain. Now there is a device which solves that problem and also includes track-mode DSC defeat, and auto front fog light control for R50, R52 and the R53 Mini Cooper. The DSC part of the system turns the DSC off, which is handy for track days, while the lighting mode turns on the front fog lights whenever the headlights are turned on. This software upgrade only costs $49.95. |

29/04/09 - All change Currently only available for the Gen1 Mini, this is a great addition for not only serious racers - think Fast & Furious - but also for those who want to drive at the limit and protect their engine from over revving and to know exactly the optimum moment to change gear. There are two versions of the FES ProShift Street Shift Light; one is the Basic ($169.95) and the Pro version (an extra $30) which has a USB output of all actual shift points so you can review and change them with a laptop. The basic version has already been programmed - you just select the appropriate setting for the make/model of your Mini. Both versions have programmable LED colors as well as exact shift point warnings, and you can have them in any colour you’d like. |

29/04/09 - Watch your boost £79 seems a very realistic amount to pay for a boost gauge and pod. It comes from GT Tuning and includes all the fitting kit and instructions to make it an easy fit. The kit includes a backlight which can also be wired in. A boost gauge is essential for keeping an eye how the supercharger is behaving on your Cooper S and warning of something such as a slipping belt or a loss of boost pressure. It can also be used on turbo (R56) Minis as well. It will monitor up to 30 psi - which is more than enough for any engine. The pod attaches to the dashboard without any drilling and is available in a wide choice of colours. |
