27/11/09 - KW's going cheap

Lohen have a special offer on at the moment for their KW suspension kits. They are now only £725. KW V1 Coilovers offer between 20-50 mm ride height adjustment. They are a great option for those looking for a comfortable sports suspension for fast road and occasional track day use (TUV tested). The damper settings have been pre-set at the factory to give a good balance between sporty driving, comfort and safety. These coilovers feature ‘inox-line stainless steel’ technology which provides extra protection against corrosion, keeping the coilovers at their best condition for a longer period of time. A 2 years manufacturer's warranty comes with this product. There’s also a free suspension setup when fitted by Lohen.

09/10/09 - Spring is in the air

Cobra’s new performance springs are designed to fit the Cooper and Cooper S. For those looking for the ultimate balance of ride comfort and response, the lowered springs work in harmony with the factory damper units to lower the car by approximately 35mm front and 30mm rear. This improved centre of gravity reduces body roll and improves turn-in. Thanks to the spring’s unique properties, compliance is retained almost at factory levels. Appearances however are not, with the car taking on a far more aggressive stance and the wheels really filling the arches. The kit comes with a comprehensive 5 year warranty and is priced at £140 including VAT.

09/09/09 - Call for reinforcements

The latest product from Mini Madness are strut tower reinforcement plates for all 2002-2006 Minis and 2006-2008 Convertibles, said to be very effective when it comes to preventing strut tower mushrooming, which they say can be a problem. The Madness reinforcement plates mount below the strut tower and cover 100% of the usable strut tower surface area for maximum strength. The Madness Plates are also made of high strength carbon steel which is significantly stronger than aluminum. They will pull the metal back into place if it’s already deformed. These plates will accommodate the use of Koni adjustable shocks and work with most strut braces and are very easy to install. Cost: $99.95

24/06/09 - How low can you go?

If you are lucky enough to be the owner of a brand new Mini Convertible and already want to improve on perfection, then they boys at Eibach have just the products for you. They are now producing Pro Kit springs which lower the car by 30 mm and really help to improve body roll and fill those arches. They are priced at £157.39 + Vat. To improve the Mini’s cornering ability they have also put together an Anti Roll Kit and say that the improved stiffness really comes into effect under hard cornering. That costs £260.87 + Vat for the front and rear bars. Their new Pro Spacer kit cost £38 + Vat for a pair which allow you to increase the track of the  standard wheels to further improve handling, and allow the option of fitting a wide range of non-standard alloys.

NM Engineering Upper Stress Bar

19/05/09 - Strut your stuff

NM Engineering’s new upper stress bar (strut brace to Uk readers) is designed to reduces fore and aft, as well as side-to-side chassis flex during spirited driving, which helps to eliminate unwanted geometry/alignment change. This results in better steering response and better handling. It’s available in any colour you’d like, as long as you’d like blue or black. The aluminum mounting pads will eliminate strut tower “mushrooming” by reinforcing the upper mount and is attached to mounts studs with shouldered long-reach nuts to make sure that the bar and front suspension is secured by more than a few threads. There are twin mounting bolts on either side that attach the bar to the mounting pads. Most others use a single bolt; the problem with that is the bar can still pivot at that point rendering them ineffective against chassis flex.

02/04/09 - More stress

What every R35 Mini Cooper S needs is a strong and lightweight steel lower stress brace to improve the handling, say Mini Madness. They point out that, unlike many other versions on the market, their version is one solid piece of steel which should help to stiffen things up no end. They say that it can be installed in as little as 15 minutes, and the feedback from their happy customers is very encouraging.

16/03/09 - One Step Beyond

Yes those nutty boys at Mini Madness have come up with another great product and this time they have turned their attention to front control arm bushes on the R36 and R53 Cooper S. If your Mini has clocked up some serious miles and the steering and ride isn’t as good as when you first bought the car, then worn bushes might be the source of the problem.

Their replacements for the OE rubber parts are high performance polyurethane (wont flex/compress like rubber) to firm up your suspension and improve driving precision. These bushings are easy to install as unlike some replacements they do do require any welding to secure them in place and help to reduce vibration from the road and not pass it onto the driver via the steering wheel.
